Overview:

• “osu! Battle Archive Malaysia 2022” is a 2v2, Team Size 2, Double Elimination Tournament, played with Score V2 & Team VS enforced.
• This is the second Iteration of the 2v2 format done locally in Malaysia, with additional format changes allowing the participation of other countries within the region of SEA.
• Teams must be below the average pp cap of 12000pp after BWS the moment registration concludes to be allowed to participate in this tournament.
• Badged Weighted Seeding is in effect for this tournament, and the formula is as following:

PP after BWS = pp+(1- (rank**(0.9937**(badges**1.75))/rank))*pp

General Registration Rules:

• Captains MUST have the Malaysian flag on their profile to be able to participate in the tournament.
• For the Second Player, only players that have a country flag from one of these following countries are eligible to participate:
  • Malaysia
  • Singapore
  • Brunei
  • Thailand
  • Indonesia

  • Vietnam
  • Philippines
  • Laos
  • Cambodia
  • Myanmar
• Make sure AT LEAST the captain joins the discord server & renames themselves to their osu! ingame name, if that is not done then the team’s registration will be considered invalid.

Match Format:

• Group Stage: Best of 9, 2 Bans
• Round of 16 & Quarterfinals: Best of 11, 2 Bans
• Semifinals & Finals: Best of 13, 2 Bans
• Grand Finals: Best of 15, 2 Bans

Mappool Size:

⚠️A g̴͎͉̞̉͛l̸̢̪͓̓͘í̷̥t̶̤̟̠͂̇c̸͎͇̚͝h̸̠̭̦͋̋͌ in the system?⚠️

• Not all the maps look as they perceive, as there’s more than meets the eye of the system.

• Every pool, certain map(s) will get altered in a way that it completely rewrites the modpick that it was supposed to fill. Can you survive?

Qualifiers Procedure:

• The pool for qualifiers will be released during the same week of the end of registration.
• Each Team must play ALL the maps in the pool with its allocated mod in a multiplayer match with a referee present.
• Players will be given time slots to play for the qualifier and can only submit ONE score for each map.
• The referee is not allowed to abort a map under any circumstances unless the map fails to start and the players are stuck waiting.
• If a player disconnects or encounters any technical issues within the first 30 seconds of a map, they are allowed to replay that particular map after the lobby is done with all the remaining maps.
• ALL scores will be summed up according to their respective mods which will then be used to determine your rank against all the other players. Seeding placement will be elaborated further down below.

Qualifiers Ranking Method: Z Score

• Your seeding & ranking post Qualifiers will be determined by a statistical-based placement method called the Z Score. It will be displayed next to your Qualifiers Ranking and all team placements will be sorted according to their Z Score.
• Z Score compares your team score relative to the average team score achieved in a map and assigns a value to it. Z-score is measured in terms of standard deviation of the team score from the mean team score achieved within that map. If your value is higher than 0, it means that your total team score is more than the average team score on that specific map, and vice versa with values lower than 0.
• Equation-wise,
  Z Score = (Your Score - Average Score) / Standard Deviation of All Scores
• Z Score is calculated PER MAP. Your Qualifiers standing will be determined by your team’s total Z Score on all 11 maps played, and will be sorted by ascending total Z Score, with the team with the highest total Z Score value placing 1st.
• Henceforth, the Top 32 teams of this Qualifiers Rankings will be seeded accordingly like this:

  Top 1-8: Top Seed Top 9-16: High Seed Top 17-24: Mid Seed Top 25-32: Low Seed

• Any other teams who have placed lower than the Top 32 will be eliminated from the tournament, and will not be advancing towards the Group Stages.

Post-Qualifier Seeding for Group Stage

• After Qualifiers have concluded and Seeding for all teams have been determined, the tournament will then proceed into the drawings for Group Stage (This will be streamed alongside Mappool Showcase)
• There will be 8 Groups of 4 teams each, with each group all containing one Top, High, Mid, Low & Unseeded Team respectively.
• The drawings for each group will be done entirely randomly.
• Every group will then engage in a Round-Robin style matchup, with every team in a group facing each other within the span of 2 weeks (That means 3 matches played per team).
• After all matches in the group conclude, the teams will then be ranked according to how many match wins they have accumulated. Should there be a tie in match wins, total point difference will be used to break the tie, with face to face being used should that method conclude with a tie as well.
• Henceforth, the 4 teams in each group will be seeded like this towards the Bracket Stage:

  1st & 2nd in Group: Proceed to Bracket Stage RO16 in Winners Bracket 3rd & 4th in Group: Proceed to Bracket Stage RO16 in Losers Bracket

Seeding for Bracket Stages

• After Group Stage has concluded and the placement for all teams have been determined, the tournament will then proceed into the drawings for Bracket Stages (This will once again, be streamed alongside Mappool Showcase)
• The drawings will be briefly done accordingly like this:
  A randomized 1st in Group will face a randomized 2nd in Group in Winners RO16.
  A randomized 3rd in Group will face a randomized 4th in Group in Losers RO16.
  However, there are certain restrictions applied to make sure that fair matchups for the future are ensured:
  The 8 teams that finished 1st in their respective groups will be sorted according to their placement in Qualifiers, with Seed 1 having the highest Qualifiers seeding & Seed 8 having the lowest.
  The Seed 1 Team will be placed at the opposite bracket to the Seed 2 Team.
  Seed 3 and 4 will be drawn to the remaining two quarters of the bracket.
  Seed 5 to 8 will be drawn to the remaining eights of the bracket.
• After drawing has concluded, the tournament will proceed as usual with these brackets from RO16 all the way to GF.

Match Instructions

• We will be using the Veto Format to do bans and picks.
• A referee will create a multiplayer room 10 minutes before the scheduled time. Both players should be online and ready. The referee should communicate with both players for their warm-up map, so that it can minimize waiting when it is time for the match. If a player is not online when the room is created, the referee will wait until 15 minutes past the scheduled start time. After that, the player who turns up will win by default.
• As soon as both players enter the room, the warm-up beatmaps they communicated to the referee earlier will be played. If a player is late for the match, his warm-up is skipped.
• The warm-up beatmap must be under 5 minutes (no leniency) and must be an osu!std beatmap. The referee has the right to reject a warm-up beatmap that is deemed to be inappropriate.
• After warm-ups, a first ban phase will occur, and players will ban one beatmap each. After the first ban phase, beatmap selection will alternate between each player. After four maps have been played (2 maps picked by each team), a second ban phase will begin and players will proceed to ban one more beatmap each. After the ban phase has completed, players will continue selecting beatmaps to play from the mappool.
• Banned beatmaps and the tiebreaker beatmap cannot be selected.
• To determine which player bans and picks first, both players must use "!roll" once in #multiplayer. The player with the higher points will ban second and pick first.
• Players should have all the maps in the map pool for the match. If the player does not have a map, he will automatically lose the point unless he has an explanation (beatmaps corrupt, etc)
• In between every pick/ban in the match, the referee will start a 2 minute timer to make sure teams don’t take too much time to pick their maps. If the 2 minute timer ends, the referee has the right to disqualify your pick/ban, and give said pick/ban to the opposing team.
• Unexpected incidents are handled by the referee.

Tiebreaker Rules (Group Stage & Bracket Stage)

• The mappool is designed such that when both players reach match point (5-5 for a best of 11, 6-6 for a best of 13, 7-7 for a best of 15), there will be 3 maps left.
• Both team captains have to Private Message (PM) the referee which map they would like to ban out of the 3 maps within 120 seconds. #multiplayer chat is strongly discouraged during this time.
• If both teams ban different maps, the 3rd map is played.
• If both teams ban the same map, the referee does a !roll 2 to determine which map out of the remaining will be played. (1 corresponds to the map listed higher on the map pool)
• If one team does not ban a map within the time limit, the other team is free to choose their choice of maps within the 3 maps.
• If neither team bans a map within the time limit, the choice of map is randomized.
• If the tiebreaker map ends in a draw, the team that rolled lower at the start of the match gets to choose another tiebreaker within the remaining 2 maps

Freemod Rules:

Both teams need at least one player go one of the following mods (or its following combination): HD (EZHD counts as HD), HR (HDHR counts as HR) or FL (EZFL counts as FL) The second player may select any mod, but he cannot go into the match unmodded. Make sure that all players in the team have NF enforced (Failed scores still count). Examples of Mod Combinations from Teams can include:

• - EZ will have their own independent multiplier depending on the FM pick.
  • - There is no bonus multiplier for FL

Penalties for being late to match:

5 minutes late: Late team’s warmup is skipped (Still play the other warm up) and automatically loses roll. 10 minutes late: Loses 1st phase ban. (Opponent gets to ban 2 maps in a row) 15 minutes late: Match is forfeited.

Penalties for disconnections:

1. When not playing Less than 5 minutes: No penalty. 5 to 10 minutes: Opponent gets 2 picks in a row. Over 10 minutes: i) 1st time of the tourney, allowed to reschedule (All scores are brought over) ii) 2nd time onwards, walkover. 2. During a map Within 30 seconds, 2 chances for an automatic rematch. Subsequent disconnections or after 30 seconds = Opponent gets a point. Timing is based on the referee's discretion.

Blacklist Notice (For Participating OMT & OMAT Players Only)

We will be allowing players who are blacklisted from playing in future iterations of OMT & OMAT to participate in this tournament, However… Integrity of play still applies in this tournament, so similarly to OMT, if you fail to communicate anything related to your match with the host/admin and your opponents without any due reasoning on more than one occurrence (exp: no-showing without any reason), you will be blacklisted from playing in future iterations of OMT & OMAT (Players blacklisted will be up to the OMT host to decide) All questions should be made through osu!
